And Then Chemo Was Done! (Post #38)

"Come on, ring those bells, light the Christmas tree..."
This song will never be sung again without thinking of this moment. ๐Ÿ˜Š

So today was a wee bit emotional...๐Ÿ˜Š I got to ring the bell to signal that I am done chemo! I still have 11 Herceptin infusions left, which will be finished on July 25, but apparently, when infused alone, Herceptin has few to no side effects. I can hardly wait!

Today's infusion went very well; I am so grateful that I managed to have only boring infusions! Today's nurse was a former ICU nurse; does it show? What amazing lines!

My t-shirt reads:"Last Day of Chemo - God is Faithful"
(And that bandage on my arm is to reduce bruising. It works well!)

Allow me to explain the importance of the plant beside which I'm standing. On a day not long after my surgery, Ken arrived home from work with this beautiful hibiscus. My first thought was "Oh great, a fussy plant I'm gonna' kill!" But, amazingly, we managed to keep it alive throughout the summer...until it started to get cold. We kinda' forgot about it, and suddenly, it had as many leaves as I have hair - not many. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ  So we brought it inside and it thrived! Now, confession time: both Ken and I were surprised to discover that apparently, we're superstitious! (except we're really not...) However, we both had a rather unrealistic impression that if the plant did well, so would I...and vice versa. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

I love the juxtaposition of the blooming hibiscus against the snow outside.
Also, apparently, I'm thriving! 6 blossoms at once!

I deliberately wore pink nail polish and a blazer with a lot of pink, as that's the color of breast cancer. Today, I thank you for your amazing support and prayers and leave you with this song. I defy you to remain dry-eyed if breast cancer has touched the life of anyone you love. It's a bit of a gulley washer for me. ๐Ÿ˜ญ
